More Details on Our Top Picks
ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient, with Superfoods (Chicken, Case of 12, 6oz Cans)
This product stands out for its high-protein, nutrient-dense formula that supports overall health across all life stages, making it ideal for owners seeking a comprehensive diet. Compared with the variety packs, it offers a single, consistent flavor, which can benefit dogs with sensitive palates but might limit variety for picky eaters. The inclusion of superfoods like green mussels and kelp boosts joint and skin health, yet these ingredients may come at a higher cost and are less common in other brands. Its all-natural, grain-free formulation makes it suitable for dogs with allergies or sensitivities, but the case size could be excessive for small households or single dogs. The limited ingredient list emphasizes quality over quantity, aligning with those prioritizing natural diets. However, the absence of detailed feeding guidelines might require owners to experiment with portions. Overall, this pick makes the most sense for pet owners wanting a high-quality, all-in-one solution with premium ingredients.
Pros:- High protein and nutrient-dense formula supports overall health
- Grain-free and limited ingredients ideal for allergies and digestion
- Includes superfoods like green mussels and kelp for joint and skin health
- Suitable for all life stages and breeds

- Limited detailed feeding instructions may require trial and error

ZIWI Peak Wet Dog Food Variety Pack – Beef and Chicken, 6 Pack (6oz Each)
This variety pack offers a mix of beef and chicken flavors made with high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients, making it ideal for owners who want to provide diversity without sacrificing nutrition. Unlike the single-flavor options like the chicken case, it keeps mealtime interesting for dogs that enjoy variety. The inclusion of superfoods such as green mussels and organic kelp supports digestion, joint health, and coat condition, but the multi-flavor approach can be less convenient for dogs with specific preferences or sensitivities. Its grain-free, no-filler formulation ensures a wholesome diet, yet the higher price point might deter budget-conscious owners. Because it supports all life stages, it’s flexible for multi-pet households, but the cost and limited flavor options could be disadvantages for some. Overall, this pick is perfect for pet owners wanting a versatile, high-quality option that keeps mealtime engaging.
Pros:- Made with high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients from New Zealand
- Supports digestion, joint health, and coat condition with superfoods
- Suitable for all life stages and breeds
- Provides variety to keep dogs engaged
Cons:- May be more expensive than standard dog foods

Our verdict“This pack works best for dog owners who want to offer healthy variety while maintaining high nutritional standards.”
ZIWI Peak Wet Dog Food Variety Pack – Beef and Lamb, 6 Pack (6oz Each)
This pack emphasizes red meats like beef and lamb, offering a rich, protein-focused diet for dogs that thrive on red meat flavors. Compared with the beef and chicken pack, it provides a different flavor profile that appeals to dogs with a preference for richer, gamier meats. The inclusion of superfoods like green mussels, green tripe, and kelp supports joint health and skin, but the higher cost and limited flavor range might not suit owners who want more options or are on a tighter budget. The product’s high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients from New Zealand ensure a natural, wholesome diet suitable for all dogs, but the limited flavor variety may lead to palate fatigue over time. It’s ideal for owners seeking an alternative to poultry-based diets or those who prefer red meats for their dogs.
Pros:- Rich in high-quality, ethically sourced red meats
- Supports joint, skin, and coat health with superfoods
- Suitable for all life stages and breeds
- Provides a nutrient-dense, protein-focused diet
Cons:- Limited flavor options may lead to boredom
- Higher price compared to more generic offerings
Best for: Owners whose dogs prefer red meats or need a protein-rich, allergen-conscious diet
Not ideal for: Pet owners seeking a broader flavor variety or on a tight budget due to higher costs
- Pack Size:6 packs of 6oz
- Ingredients:Beef, Lamb, Green Mussels, Green Tripe, Organic Kelp
- Dietary Features:Grain-free, No fillers, Suitable for all life stages
Our verdict“This pack is ideal for dog owners wanting a red meat-centric diet that emphasizes high-quality ingredients.”
ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient, with Superfoods (Chicken, Case of 12, 13.75oz Cans)
This larger can size makes it suitable for multi-dog households or owners who prefer bulk options, yet the natural variability in shape, size, and odor due to handcrafted processes can be off-putting for some. It shares many benefits with the smaller cans, such as high protein content, grain-free and natural ingredients, and superfoods that support joint and coat health. The higher price per can might be a barrier for budget-conscious owners, and transitioning to this product requires patience to avoid digestive upset. Compared to the smaller cans, it offers a more economical option per serving but demands a larger storage space and may not be ideal for single-dog households. Its natural handcrafted nature emphasizes quality over uniformity, making it a good choice for owners prioritizing natural, fresh ingredients.
Pros:- Made with ethically sourced, natural ingredients from New Zealand
- Supports digestion, joint health, and coat condition with superfoods
- Suitable for all life stages and breeds
- Cost-effective per serving for multi-dog households
Cons:- Natural variability in shape, size, color, and odor due to handcrafted process
- Higher price point and larger storage requirements
Best for: Owners of multiple dogs or those seeking a larger, natural, high-protein wet food option
Not ideal for: Single dog owners or those with limited refrigerator space who prefer uniform, store-bought consistency
- Quantity:12 cans
- Can Size:13.75 oz
- Main Ingredients:Chicken, organs, bone, green mussels
- Dietary Features:Grain free, limited ingredient, high protein
- Origin:New Zealand
Our verdict“This large-can option makes sense for households with multiple dogs or those seeking natural, high-quality bulk wet food.”
ZIWI Peak Wet Dog Food Variety Pack – Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Mackerel, Tripe, Venison, 6 Pack (6oz Each)
This pack offers an extensive range of flavors, including beef, chicken, lamb, mackerel, tripe, and venison, catering to dogs with diverse tastes and adventurous eaters. Compared with the simpler beef and chicken pack, it provides more variety and nutrient diversity, which can help prevent boredom and support a broader spectrum of nutrients. The inclusion of superfoods, probiotics, and essential nutrients makes it a comprehensive choice, but the complexity and cost may be prohibitive for owners with budget constraints or dogs with very specific flavor preferences. Refrigeration after opening and potential flavor fatigue are additional considerations. It’s an excellent choice for owners who want to give their dogs a balanced, flavorful diet with maximum variety and nutritional coverage.
Pros:- Wide variety of flavors for diverse palates
- High-quality, ethically sourced ingredients from New Zealand
- Supports digestion, joint health, and skin with superfoods and probiotics
- Suitable for all life stages and breeds
Cons:- Limited flavor options for dogs with specific preferences
- Requires refrigeration after opening and may be pricier
Best for: Owners of dogs that enjoy multiple flavors and require a nutritionally balanced, varied diet
Not ideal for: Owners seeking a simple, single-flavor diet or on a tight budget due to higher costs and handling needs
- Weight:6 oz per can
- Number of Packs:6
- Flavor Varieties:Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Mackerel, Tripe, Venison
Our verdict“This variety pack is best suited for owners who want to offer their dogs a broad, balanced diet with multiple flavor options.”
ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient, with Superfoods (Lamb, Case of 12, 6oz Cans)
This lamb-based formula stands out for its rich, high-protein content and inclusion of superfoods like green mussels and kelp, making it ideal for owners seeking a well-rounded, natural diet. Compared to the beef option, this lamb recipe offers a different flavor profile and is suited for dogs with sensitivities to beef, though it may appear more variable in texture due to natural ingredients. The absence of fillers and artificial additives provides peace of mind, but the natural variability can be a drawback for owners preferring consistency. Its all-natural sourcing from New Zealand ensures quality, yet the higher price and need for gradual transition are tradeoffs.
Pros:- High in protein and nutrient-dense ingredients
- Grain-free and suitable for allergies
- Includes superfoods supporting joint and coat health
- Ethically sourced from New Zealand
Cons:- Natural variability in appearance and texture
- More expensive than standard options
- Requires gradual transition to prevent digestive upset

Not ideal for: Pet owners on a tight budget or those who prefer uniform, consistent textures in canned food.
- Quantity:12 cans
- Can Size:6 oz

Our verdict“This pick is best for owners seeking a high-quality, natural, all-in-one meal with premium ingredients.”
ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient, with Superfoods (Beef, Case of 12, 13.75oz Cans)
This beef-focused formula offers an impressive 92% meat, organs, and bone, making it a top choice for owners prioritizing maximum meat content and nutrient density. It surpasses the lamb version in protein levels and includes superfoods like green mussels and kelp for joint and coat health, but the larger can size may not be ideal for smaller dogs or those that eat less at once. The handcrafted nature means natural variability in shape and odor, which could challenge owners seeking uniform presentation. While its high meat content supports overall wellness, the premium price and potentially strong smell are tradeoffs to consider.
Pros:- High meat and organ content for optimal nutrition
- Grain-free and limited ingredients suitable for sensitivities
- Includes superfoods supporting overall health
- Ethically sourced from New Zealand
Cons:- Natural variability in shape, size, and odor
- May require gradual transition

This mackerel and lamb blend offers a balanced mix of omega-rich fish and high-quality lamb, supporting digestion, hydration, and coat health. Compared with the beef and lamb options, this formula combines the benefits of fish oils with land-based protein, appealing to owners seeking diversity in their pet’s diet. It includes superfoods like green mussels and kelp, but the canned format and limited flavor options might not suit all dogs. Its focus on overall wellness and hydration makes it suitable for dogs needing skin and coat support, though the price and texture could be concerns for some.

ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient, with Superfoods (Lamb, Case of 12, 13.75oz Cans)
This lamb formula offers a substantial size at 13.75 ounces, making it suitable for owners feeding multiple dogs or those who prefer less frequent can opening. It emphasizes natural ingredients and a high protein content, supporting digestion and joint health. When compared with the smaller 6-ounce cans, this larger size reduces packaging waste and may be more economical per serving, but the bigger portion could be less convenient for small dogs or solo feeders. The inclusion of superfoods promotes coat and joint health, though its premium price might deter budget-conscious buyers.
Pros:- High in protein and nutrient-dense
- Larger can size offers convenience and economy
- Supports digestion, joint, skin, and coat health
- Natural ingredients from New Zealand
Cons:- Premium price may be costly
- Limited ingredient variety
- Canned format requires refrigeration after opening

- Quantity:12 cans
- Can Size:13.75 oz
- Main Ingredient:Lamb
- Diet Type:Grain Free
- Life Stages:All
Our verdict“Best suited for multi-dog homes or owners seeking larger, economical cans of natural, high-protein food.”

It offers a familiar flavor for many dogs and includes superfoods like green mussels and kelp, supporting joint, skin, and coat health. Compared with the lamb or mackerel variants, this beef version might be more appealing to dogs with a preference for red meat, though its smaller 6-ounce cans are better suited for owners who prefer portion control and less waste. Factors to Consider When Choosing Ziwi Peak Wet Dog Food Review
When choosing a Ziwi Peak wet dog food, it’s essential to consider factors beyond just ingredients and price. Understanding your dog’s specific dietary needs, lifestyle, and preferences can significantly influence your choice. The following sections highlight key considerations that will help you make an informed decision and avoid common pitfalls in selecting high-quality wet food.Protein Content and Ingredient Quality
High protein levels are vital for maintaining your dog’s muscle mass and overall vitality. Look for products that list real meat or fish as the primary ingredient, ideally without fillers or by-products. Ziwi Peak excels in this area, but pay attention to the percentage of meat in each can. Choosing foods with natural, recognizable ingredients can prevent digestive issues and support long-term health, especially for active or senior dogs.
Size and Packaging
Package sizes vary, affecting both convenience and value. Larger cans often provide better cost-per-ounce but may not be suitable for small or picky eaters. Consider how much your dog consumes daily and whether you prefer single-flavor or variety packs. Also, check the packaging for convenience—easy-open lids and resealable options can make feeding easier while maintaining freshness.
Ingredient Diversity and Variety Packs
Offering multiple flavors can prevent boredom and ensure a balanced diet, but may come at a premium. Be aware that some variety packs include less familiar ingredients, which might not suit all dogs. If your dog has sensitivities, sticking with single-protein options might be better. Variety packs are ideal for owners who want to introduce different flavors gradually or keep their dog interested.
Price and Value
Cost varies based on size, ingredients, and brand reputation. While premium ingredients tend to cost more, they often translate into better health benefits and fewer vet visits. Evaluate whether the higher price aligns with your budget and your dog’s dietary needs. Sometimes, buying in larger quantities or multi-packs offers substantial savings, but only if your dog accepts the food consistently.
Additional Nutritional Features
Superfoods like kelp, spinach, or blueberries can enhance nutrient density, but they also add to costs. Consider whether your dog could benefit from these supplements, especially if they have specific health concerns. Be cautious of added fillers or artificial preservatives, which can negate the benefits of natural ingredients. Always read labels carefully to ensure you’re choosing the most nutritious option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ziwi Peak wet dog food suitable for dogs with food allergies?
Yes, many Ziwi Peak formulas are designed with limited ingredients and focus on single-source proteins, making them suitable for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies. However, it’s important to check the specific ingredient list for any allergens your dog might have and consult with a veterinarian before making changes to their diet. This brand’s emphasis on natural, recognizable ingredients can help reduce the risk of allergic reactions compared to more processed foods.
Can Ziwi Peak wet dog food replace dry kibble entirely?
Absolutely, many owners use Ziwi Peak wet food as a primary diet or as a topper to encourage picky eaters. Wet food is often more palatable and hydrating, which can benefit dogs prone to dehydration or dental issues. However, it’s essential to balance wet food with other nutritional sources if feeding exclusively, to ensure your dog gets all necessary nutrients. Always consider your dog’s specific health needs when making this switch.
Is there a significant price difference between the different sizes of Ziwi Peak cans?
Yes, larger cans generally offer better value per ounce, making them more economical for owners with larger dogs or those feeding multiple pets. Smaller cans provide convenience for single servings or for dogs with smaller appetites. When budgeting, compare the cost per ounce across sizes to determine which option offers the best savings without sacrificing quality or freshness.
Are the ingredients in Ziwi Peak products truly all-natural?
Yes, Ziwi Peak prides itself on using all-natural ingredients with no artificial preservatives, colors, or fillers. Their recipes focus on high-quality meat, organs, and superfoods, which are minimally processed. Always check labels for any specific dietary restrictions or ingredient preferences, but overall, this brand is transparent about its natural approach.
How often should I rotate flavors or formulas from Ziwi Peak?
Rotating flavors can help prevent food boredom and ensure a well-rounded diet, but it’s best to introduce new flavors gradually. Switching between different proteins or varieties every few weeks can also help identify any sensitivities. Consult your veterinarian if your dog has special dietary needs or health conditions, to determine the optimal rotation plan.
Conclusion
For dog owners seeking the best overall quality, ZIWI Peak Canned Wet Dog Food – All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, with Superfoods stands out as a top choice. Those prioritizing value might prefer the larger-sized cans or multi-packs, which offer good nutrition at a lower cost. If you’re new to feeding premium wet food, starting with smaller variety packs can help your dog adjust gradually. For dogs with sensitivities or specific health needs, single-protein formulas or limited ingredient options provide peace of mind. Ultimately, selecting the right Ziwi Peak product depends on your dog’s dietary preferences, health, and your budget, but each of these options delivers high-quality nutrition tailored to different priorities.
